Tiny Tome No. 5

Not all advice is advisable

Advice bears a weight that demands discernment, lest it undermine the very purpose it purports to serve. Often given with good intent, advice carries the adviser’s implicit assumptions, biases, fears, and desires. Truly wise advice invites us to question, to engage in collaborative contemplation rather than blind, unthinking submission. Sage counsel honors autonomy, for advice is not a directive; it is a mirror reflecting both perspective and limitation. Beware the colonizing counsel.
